Community Partners

Here are a few organizations we have supported:

  • American Cancer Society:  BankAnnapolis serves as one of the lead sponsors of the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life," held each year.  Anywhere from 10 to 25 employees participate in the relay, as well as hold several fund raising events leading up to the Relay.  The staff of several of the Bank’s branches has taken on this cause as “their” cause.
  • Anne Arundel Community College Foundation:  
    SVP Mitch Krebs has been a board member since 2006 and currently serves as treasurer. 
  • Bosom Buddies Charities:  BankAnnapolis is a proud sponsor of the Bosom Buddies Charities' signature fundraising event, the "2010 Bosom Buddies Ball".  Since its inception in 2006, Bosom Buddies has raised over $600,000 to purchase equipment to detect breast cancer for Anne Arundel Medical Center on Kent Island.  Funds are also being used for awareness education initiatives and "Women Supporting Women", which helps women and their families with medical and emotional decisions surrounding breast cancer.  BankAnnapolis AVP and Kent Island branch manager, AVP Carllene Hurd, is working with Bosom Buddies Charities.
  • CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate):  BankAnnapolis has been the lead corporate sponsor of CASA’s annual golf outing benefiting CASA since 2001.   In addition to monetary sponsorship, approximately 25 to 35 employees volunteer their time, both in advance of and the day of the outing, in support of this event.
    BankAnnapolis’ SVP, Robert E. Kendrick, serves as treasurer and past president of CASA.
  • Chesapeake Women’s Network:  Since 2004, BankAnnapolis has supported Chesapeake Women’s Network in various capacities.  AVP Carllene Hurd has served on the board and is currently treasurer of this organization, which gives scholarships to women in need.
  • Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County:  "The philanthropic hub for our community".  Their mission is to increase philanthropy and build permanent charitable assets to improve the quality of life for all people in Anne Arundel County.   The enable all people with philanthropic interests to support the issues they care about in our community, easily and effectively.  BankAnnapolis has been a sponsor of their annual Anne Arundel County Celebration of Philanthropy Awards Luncheon.
  • Foundation for Community Partnerships:  BankAnnapolis was named principal partner by the Foundation in 2006.  Along with a multiyear monetary commitment, BankAnnapolis’ chairman and CEO, Richard M. Lerner, serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
  • Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake:  Habitat for Humanity creates opportunities for low income individuals to realize their dream of home ownership.  Homes are constructed and sold to candidates with no-interest mortgages.  Homeowners must qualify for their mortgage and must earn the privilege through mandatory financial counseling and sweat equity hours.  BankAnnapolis will be a key sponsor on a collaborative project between Habitat for Humanity and HUD, the first of its kind in the Nation, on Clay Street in Annapolis.   The project will create affordable housing for neighborhoods plagued with gentrification.    
  • Hospice of the Chesapeake:  BankAnnapolis has been a sponsor for Hospice events such as the Annual Gala, the Hospice Cup race and Hospice Golf Tournament for the past several years.   BankAnnapolis’ CEO and chairman Richard M. Lerner serves as Chairman of the Hospice Foundation Board and is a member of the Hospice Inc. Board.  In addition, SVP Carol Kasper serves as director emeritus of the Hospice Foundation Board. Employees also volunteer their time to help Hospice during the fall boat shows.
  • Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department:  In 2006, BankAnnapolis committed to a multiyear donation program for their capital campaign to raise money for their new firehouse as well as various other endeavors.
  • Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts:  BankAnnapolis has been a sponsor of events such as the annual Arts Alive Gala and Mardi Gras Gala for the past several years.
  • Providence Center:  In 2007 BankAnnapolis committed to a multiyear donation program for their Capital Campaign to raise funds to update and expand several of their locations in order to consolidate into fewer locations.  In addition BankAnnapolis has been a sponsor of the Providence Center's golf tournament for many years.
  • United Way of Queen Anne’s County Maryland:  BankAnnapolis has been a sponsor of several events for the United Way and has also provided monetary donations.  AVP Carllene Hurd has served on the board since 2005 and is currently serving as President.
  • Wellness House of Annapolis:  BankAnnapolis has been involved with the Wellness House of Annapolis since 2009.  Their mission is to offer services and programs to assist those living with cancer and their loved ones, including children, going through the recovery process.  All programs and services are free and open to anyone who has been affected by cancer.  Programs are subsidized by community volunteer support and donations.  BankAnnapolis SVP Carol Kasper has worked with the Wellness House since its inception.
  • National Disasters:   BankAnnapolis and its employees have given generously of goods and monetary donations to recent disaster relief efforts such as the Gulf Coast hurricanes and the tsunami.  BankAnnapolis branches also serve as donation drop-off sites for the American Red Cross and other organizations during these disasters.
  • BBJ Most Generous Corporate Givers:  Since 2001, BankAnnapolis has been in the top tier of the Baltimore Business Journal's Annual survey of "Most Generous Corporate Givers in the Baltimore Area,"  based on total giving as a percentage of company revenue.  BankAnnapolis employees contribute countless hours of volunteer and community service, ranging from 2,000 to 3,500 hours of service each year.
  • In addition to the organizations listed above, other charitable organizations supported by the bank via sponsorship or employee volunteerism include the Annapolis Maritime Museum, Community Center in Severna Park, Salvation ArmyLee National Denim Day, The Light House Shelter and the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, to name a few.
